Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies
The main goal of the Illinois Association of Community Action Agencies (IACAA) is to help community action agencies build communities and foster economic development throughout Illinois. KSA’s role is to help the association conduct proactive media outreach, as well as to teach its members about PR and what makes newsworthy stories.
In one year, KSA helped IACAA plan three statewide tours that focused on IACAA weatherization programs and the importance of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to communities.
KSA also taught two workshops for IACAA members that introduced them to the basics of PR and conducting media outreach for their agencies, and helped decipher what makes a story newsworthy.
The Community Action tours generated numerous broadcast and print stories throughout the state, which helped to raise awareness of what Community Action Agencies do and how vital CAA programs and services are to their communities. And, IACAA members received tips and templates they could take back to their agencies to begin to tell their own stories of success.
